Good afternoon, Pathfinder families!
I hope you are enjoying the beautiful sunshine this afternoon. Our students enjoyed our March is Reading month kickoff assembly this morning, featuring Mat Emerick. Mat did an amazing job of telling stores from Mo Willems, our author of the month. Students dressed up like Piggy, Elephant, and other book characters and helped Mat act out stories for their friends. In addition, students enjoyed watching Mat juggle and act like a clown. See Facebook later today for some fun pictures! Here are some ways you could get involved in our March is Reading celebration:
- Send in a picture of your child reading at home in any unique place, such as a dog kennel or a tree. We will post these throughout the school.
-Consider signing up to be a guest reader in your child's classroom some time this month. You must complete a background check in order to do this.
-Check out Mo Willems books from the public library in town.
-Watch your child's backpack for information about a reading program through the West Michigan Whitecaps. You could earn free tickets to a game! If you want to start now, start keeping track of how many minutes your child reads each night. You will be marking 15 minute chunks for reading for this. We are still waiting to get the information from the Whitecaps.
Parent request forms for K-5 for next year will be available later this week in the office. Please stop by to pick one up, if you would like to give some input on where your child is placed next year. You will need to give 3 choices of teachers and a few reasons as to why you want that teacher for your child. Forms will be accepted through April 15th.
Thank you for trusting us with your students! Please email or call any time with questions or concerns.
