Doctors prescribe drugs and medicines to help our bodies overcome pain and misery. However, prescriptions can be abused and very seriously hurt and harm people physically, emotionally, and mentally. In the same way, God has created sex to be blessing for us, but He prescribes it in a very specific way. Sadly, when sex is used outside of God's prescription, then:

SEX IS PAINFUL *

According to national statistics on sexual assault, it is reported that 1 out of every 6 American adult women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthday, and victims of sexual assault are: 3 times more likely to suffer from depression, 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol, 26 times more likely to abuse drugs, and 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide. The promotion of pornography and sexual immorality continues to lead to more accounts of rape, child abuse, sex trafficking, unwanted children, and broken homes and families.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans (1:18, 24), "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness ... Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another."

Paul warns about ignoring God's direction regarding sex in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites ... will inherit the kingdom of God." Sex is painful when mankind's selfish and wicked desires use it in a way that God has NOT prescribed. But Paul encourages in verse 11, "And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God."
