WNBA Writers PATRICIA VOLONAKIS DAVIS and MICHAEL NEFF
will read from their latest works
Thursday, September 24th at 7 PM
The Women's National Book Association (WNBA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes reading and supports the role of women in the community of books.
After
20 years of marriage to a gorgeous Greek man, Italian-American
author Davis agrees to move to Greece, where her husband insists he will
be happy. The result is her funny and self-deprecating memoir, Harlot's
Sauce: A Memoir of Food, Family, Love, Loss, and Greece. Davis goes to Greece thinking it might save her marriage. But she discovers, as she shared in a recent interview: "I thought it would help him. It turns out it helped me."
Neff will read from Year of the Rhinoceros,
his compelling and heartfelt debut novel of disillusionment and its consequences. Neff explores what went wrong in this country a couple
of decades ago, and keeps going wrong even now. Under Ronald Reagan, democracy
is fading, and two employees in a small agency created by Congress, the Office
of Whistleblower Counsel, are determined to save it.
"Neff is a raucous new voice in American Literature."
– Robert Olen Butler, Pulitzer Prize winning author
