PUBLIC MEETING SUNDAY 26TH FEBRUARY AT 2 PM AT MONA VALE HALL
Please attend the Public Meeting that
has been called by Robert Dunn, on SUNDAY at 2 PM at the Mona Vale
Hall.
Robert, and a number of Pittwater
residents are saying, we believe, - the hospital must be at Mona
Vale! - an alternative should not be considered.
Whilst we agree that the ideal site for a Level 5 hospital is Mona Vale, we know that the Dept of Health has rejected the possibility that the Hospital would be built at the Mona Vale site.
The LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL GENERAL
PURPOSE STANDING COMMITTEE NO. 2
Government Response to the Inquiry
into the Operation of Mona Vale Hospital
states:
'Neither of the existing hospitals
(Manly and Mona Vale) is considered to be located on a site
appropriate to draw a large enough catchment population to
support sustainable Level 5 services'
So, Mona Vale is out!
It is no secret that Frenchs Forest
is the Govt's preferred site, unless it sees the
Narrabeen/Warriewood site as a better one. Presently it is
conducting all the same analyses as the other sites.
Without a viable alternative, the
hospital will go to the Frenchs Forest site, a location that is
unacceptable to the Offshore communities.
We calculate that it would take
between 1 and 2 hours to get to this site (private or Public
transport).
Please see attached Submission to
the Council from SIRA for more details (Click here).
So, we need Offshore people to
attend this Public Meeting to put our points, and to support a
Level 5 Hospital at the alternative Narrabeen/Warriewood site,
as set down in the Council's submission.
This would result in meeting the
Dept's Standard - '20 kms or 30 minutes'
COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY 27TH FEBRUARY
AT 6.30 PM
It will also be important to attend
the Council Meeting on Mon at 6.30 pm where, we understand, the
Proposal will be debated. SIRA President Shar Jones plans to
register to address Council, along with a representative from
WPCA.
If you believe that it is important
to have a Level 5 Hospital within that '20 kms or 30 minutes'
range, then attend these meetings.
Any questions, ring Greg Roberts
(9979 9599), or Email
greg.roberts@exemail.com.au ), who sits on the Save Mona
Vale Hospital committee as an offshore resident.
