Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

FOR YOU ... JESUS' MINISTRY TO THE SPIRITUALLY BLIND

When Jesus began reading Isaiah he was reading his own God-given mission statement. Jesus was reading his own Father-given ministry outline. He was reading what the Father had promised them He would come and do.

When Jesus gave sight back to those born blind, the miracle proved that He was God. Yet, in this case, as in the former examples, the blindness referred to is a spiritual blindness.

Spiritual blindness is prevalent in our society. When someone suddenly snaps and kills people (Newtown, CT) people ask how and why it happened. Those who have swallowed the humanist garbage that human beings are by nature good can't seem to understand why seemingly normal people do horrible things. Many don't see, understand, or believe the truth about who we are (sinners) and where we stand with God (condemned) and where we are headed without rescue (hell).

Many in our society have been blinded by the lies of the god of this age (Satan). Many have been misled by the false and godless philosophies of this world.

Jesus came to bear witness to the truth, to offer more than insight into these things. He came to give us sight, spiritual sight and understanding through His teaching, preserved for us in Scripture. He came to do more than proclaim good news, and release and recovery of sight ...

Jesus has come to enlighten us and restore a right relationship with the Father.
