Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
WHY? APART FROM SALVATION!
In looking at Galatians 4:4 and then also verse 5, we understand that Jesus came the first time for sin. That is, by His life, death, resurrection, and ascension He would fulfill the righteous requirements of the law, paying the debt of the law. This having been accomplished and shown by His rising, He ascended and sat down declaring that the salvation for sin had been completely finished. By faith then, through the Holy Spirit, we are children of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus.
It is clear then that Jesus' return is not to place Himself again under the law to redeem. That is done. He comes the second time apart from sin to bring us who believe into kingdom of heaven. He comes to deliver the created world from its subjection to sin. He comes to raise the departed saints. He comes to reveal in glory all believers living and dead.
Paul in Romans 8:19-21 states this, "For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."
In short, Jesus returns for judgment.
