I hope this e-mail finds you well and getting ready to celebrate the holidays with the people you love. 2011 has been a year of incredible growth and change for Portland Story Theater and I just want to thank all the people whose friendship and encouragement and support has nourished us and helped us get this far!
From very humble beginnings in 2004, Portland Story Theater has become the Pacific Northwest's premiere storytelling organization, bringing true, personal narrative to an ever-growing audience. Some of you are new friends and some of you have been with us from the very beginning -- thank you, one and all.
In 2011, the Art of Personal Narrative workshops and the Urban Tellers showcases have become a major piece of Portland Story Theater's community-building mission. Dozens and dozens of ordinary people have gone through the workshop and then stood on the stage to share the universal truths of their human experience. Coaching these people and helping them tell their stories has been a profoundly meaningful and gratifying experience for us.
In 2011 we also became an official, tax-exempt, 501(c)3 non-profit and won a small but very much appreciated RACC grant. But we still have a long way to go!! Ticket sales cover only a portion of our expenses. We need your help to be able to lead more workshops and offer more workshop scholarships, expand the artist residency portion of our solo new works festival, and begin to build our staff by creating a formal position for our Executive Director, Lynne Duddy.
Please consider making a tax-deductible end-of-year donation to Portland Story Theater, so we can keep bringing you true, personal stories, told face to face, eye to eye, and heart to heart.
Help us keep the story going.
Thanks, and may the narrative be with you,
