James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

THANK YOU, GOD, FOR ALL YOUR GIFTS

This week we will be celebrating our National Day of Thanksgiving, an annual tradition observed in the United States since the year 1863. Though this holiday isn't part of the Christian Church Year it is eminently fitting for Christians to observe it. The Bible encourages us in many places to lift up our hearts to the Lord in gratitude for all the blessings of His fatherly love. Among the blessings for which we should thank Him are the gifts He bestows for our health and well-being during the time of our earthly pilgrimage. Were it not for our heavenly Father's gracious care and provision we would not survive for a single moment. As we celebrate our national Thanksgiving Day let us remember to praise our Lord for all His gifts, including those "little things" He supplies from day to day (food to eat, air to breathe, clothes to wear, shoes for our feet, physical stamina to get through our day) which enable us to enjoy the life He has given us here, and so that we might live to serve and praise Him.

Prayer: "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." With the psalmist I lift my heart and voice in praise to You, my merciful God. There is no aspect to my life where Your grace is not seen. You have opened Your hands and more than satisfied every desire of my soul. To You be thanks, honor, and glory today and forever through Jesus my Savior. Amen.
