Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 7 April

Next Wednesday we share our screens with David Keep ARPS DPAGB ABPE EFIAP who will be presenting his talk - Underwater Photography 2
This talk follows on from part 1 (which we saw last September) and we’ll cover bigger creatures. Crocodiles, whale sharks, manatees, hammerhead sharks and seals are all covered. Also includes a section on how I shot my World Cup gold medal winning image Diving Gannets, Shetland.

If the last talk is anything to go by, this evening is a "must watch" as the images will be truly wonderful and the naration most entertaining.

A couple of images from the talk. A short video showing examples of the content can be viewed here

BPS Council Changes
At the recent Council Meeting we welcomed two new members to the Council. Richard Kay will be taking over the management of all charity aspects of the society, and Nigel Owen the insurance elements. We are all delighted that they have joined the Council, it is always good to introduce ‘new blood’ and especially so when members volunteer to help out in this way.

There is also a change in chairmanship of the Salon. I will be taking over this role for the 2022 Salon and beyond. It will be an incredibly tough act to follow as Pete has done such a great job for so many years, but with Pete’s help and the support of the ‘Salon Team’ I will endeavour to make it as seamless as possible.

Barry Mead's tenure as President ends later in the Summer and we are all pleased that Pete Howell will be the next President of BPS. An honour he richly deserves.

Bath PS
Bath Photographic Society (BPS) invites you to view its digital Spring Exhibition, which is open until 31 May. The theme of the exhibition is "A Different View". Over 30 photographers have put in images that are a bit out of the ordinary, and include abstracts, quirky subjects, close ups, reflections and digitally adjusted or created images amongst others. We are particularly pleased to include two images from Paul Betts, a past President, who sadly passed away in 2019 and to whom this exhibition is in memory of. The exhibition can be viewed at the Bath PS website: www.bathphotographicsociety.org.uk.

Lee Filters Update
Dear Associated club members.
I hope this email finds you all well and exited to be heading out again soon. Fingers crossed we get a smooth transition out of lockdown to allow our creative juices to start flowing again and for us to start shooting the great outdoors.
A few bits and pieces to update you.
1.       Change of contact details: In order to separate the club emails from my other work duties please can you change my contact info from sgarratt@leefilters.com to clubs@leefilters.com  - your emails will still come to me, simply via a separate inbox which makes things easier to manage.
2.       As promised for those who couldn’t attend our Ambassador talk last Thursday, I have included a link to the recording of Verity Milligan’s lecture (click here). The talk went extremely well with fantastic feedback so please feel free to forward this to your club members so they can view at their leisure. Please remember however that this should not be shared outside the club or on any public platforms.
3.       Also attached for your committee's attention is another small PDF featuring the new ‘Welcome To the World of Filters’ educational lecture that is now available for you to book on a per club basis… As always this is completely free of charge. I’ve had some fantastic feedback on this lecture so far due to the wide range of genre’s included, the high quality images, and how it breaks down complicated or confusing methods into simple and easy to understand concepts. This lecture is booking up well so please let me know if you are interested.
4.       Due to demand I am currently putting together a dedicated short session lecture (approximately 1hr+Q&A) on Long exposure photography. If this is something you would be interested in, please let me know and I will add you to the contact list for when its available to book. Obviously, this again will be free of charge.
In the meantime, let me wish you all a wonderful Spring, and as always, please let me know if you have any requests or ideas.
Kind regards,
Simon Garratt

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
Now we're all still in lockdown, the thought of on-line shopping must be looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!

For Sale

If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).

Photographic Acronyms
