We're excited to share another week of news & ideas with our MAiZE family. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and the truth is that some of the best originate with all of you! So, if you ever have an idea you'd like us to pass along to the group, please just send it our way. Also, please remember that we'll be archiving these ideas on the siteowner web site, so that you can go back and view them whenever you like.
Due this Friday: Annual Scholarship Applications
Daniel Huffstutler, a good friend and former MAIZE owner, was one of the first to bring the corn maze concept to the southern states, opening a location in his hometown of Locust Fork, Alabama in 1998. In the spring of 1999, at the age of 24, Daniel unexpectedly suffered a brain aneurysm and passed away. The Daniel Huffstutler Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 to honor his memory and help further his passion and love for agriculture.
 
The annual scholarship, now in its 7th year, provides an immediate family member of a MAiZE owner with $1000 toward their college education. Applications are due July 26 and the winners will be announced in late August. Applications are reviewed and scored by the 6 members of our MAiZE Siteowner Advisory Board.

Applicants must be an immediate family member of a MAiZE owner and enrolled full time in college for Fall 2013. Previous winners are not eligible, however applications can be resubmitted by former applicants who have not yet received the scholarship award. Best of luck to all of this year’s applicants...
 
Scout Patches: July 31 Order Deadline

It's time to order scout patches! The Studio/Butler Patches is once again our provider of scout patches and they've created this exclusive custom patch for members of our MAiZE family. (special thanks to Tim & Bethany Wright for submitting the concept that inspired this design!)
 
The order deadline for the 2013 patch is now July 31, with an expected delivery date between August 15-25. Orders should be emailed to  anne.ramirez@thestudio.com
(Contact Name: Anne Ramirez). You can also call with your order if you prefer. Numbers are 877-647-6447 ext 1005 or dial the direct line 213-289-3465.   
 
All orders will need to be placed with a credit card.The cost will be @$0.35 if we get to the 10,000 piece mark. If we go past the 25,000 piece total mark, then the price will be reduced to @$0.32. Everyone together ordered 26,000 pieces total last year, so we hope to reach the lower price point. Patches are 2" with 100% embroidery & an iron-on back.
