2 Timothy 4:1-2 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

BE READY TO TEACH EVERY DAY

How long does the school year last in your town? Do the children attend year round or do they have a summer break? Whichever the case, the teacher needs to be ready to teach when the school doors open. The teacher needs to be prepared; to know the subjects in order to teach effectively. Which of us would be happy to hear the teacher say: "Well, I'm just not ready to teach yet. I need more vacation."

The Apostle Paul urged Timothy, and would also urge us as Christian pastors, teachers, and parents (who are teachers) to preach the word, to be ready in season and out of season. If we would be prepared, then we should daily search the Scriptures for ourselves that we may impart spiritual wisdom to our students. We don't know how long our time of grace on earth will be. We don't know how often we will have opportunity to teach. We don't know when the Lord will come again to judge the living and the dead. We who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ have work to do!

God help us to be ready to convince when necessary, to rebuke, to encourage, and to do so with patience and long suffering. May God help us to be patient and longsuffering like our Savior Jesus.
