NEW AWARD PUTS YOUNG FILMMAKERS IN THE FRAME
 
28 October 2013 – A new national award for young filmmakers was announced in Dublin today. The Young Filmmaker Award is part of Better Together, a campaign that aims to highlight the work of Irish charities, clubs and associations.
Young filmmakers, between the ages of 13 and 18, are invited to enter short videos (no longer than two minutes) on the theme “better together”. Entries can focus on:
Entries must be submitted online at www.bettertogether.ie by 8 November 2013. The public are invited to vote for their favourite entries until 22 November. The ten most popular videos will be shortlisted and a single winner will be announced at the Better Together Awards on 12 December at Dublin Castle. The winner or winners (if it is a group) will get an opportunity to rub shoulders with professional filmmakers at the Young Irish Film Makers Summer School in 2014.
The Better Together Campaign was developed by The Wheel, a national network representing over 930 charities, supported by many leading charities including Young Irish Film Makers, Spunout.ie, Young Social Innovators, the National Youth Council of Ireland, Irish Cancer Society, Enable Ireland, Focus Ireland and many others.
