Ausgrid Update.
Emergency crews are
progressively restoring
the power supply to homes on the western foreshore of Pittwater, via
mobile
generators, which were delivered to site yesterday.
To connect these
generators safely,
crews must inspect the meter board for each property. Unfortunately this
is very time consuming process.
This morning crews
are focussing on
connecting homes at Lovett Bay and Morning Bay. It is expected the two
generators in these locations will both be powered up late this
afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon
two mobile generators
around Elvina Bay were switched on. Unfortunately one of those
generators,
which supplied about 70 homes, had some mechanical issues and needs to
be replaced.
Crews are arranging a replacement generator but it as yet unsure when
it
will arrive.
To help get the
power safely and quickly
we ask residents to be mindful of their electricity use. High
electrical
loads make it difficult to safely power of up the generators.
Avoid using air
conditioning and switch
off all non-essential appliances like second fridges or freezers and
pool
pumps, to help ensure the generator can be powered up and maintain the
power supply.
Ausgrid apologises
to residents for
the time it is taking to restore their supply. Access is difficult and
making sure the work is done safely, for both staff and the community
is
our first priority.
