Matthew 25:31 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

THE JUDGE

You look in the rear view mirror and see flashing red and blue lights. What are your thoughts? Frightened? Happy? It depends on whether you're speeding or sitting on the side of the road with car trouble.

When Jesus comes in His glory to judge the living and the dead, there will be mixed feelings as well. There will be those who look forward to the coming of Jesus as a rescue. Others will cower in dread at the sound of the trumpets announcing the Judge's return.

Both groups will be correct because this Judge dispenses perfect justice. He cannot be bribed. He will not make a mistake. The innocent will not be accidentally shipped off to prison, nor will the guilty go free on a technicality.

How do you know whether to look forward to the Judge's coming? Should it be with joy or dread? It's very simple. Those who have rejected Jesus on earth rightly fear the guilty verdict for their sin. When you have been made part of God's family through faith in Jesus, you have been justified, that is declared not guilty. That verdict will hold up on Judgment Day because the cleansing blood of Jesus means sure and certain forgiveness.
