This month's Kitty Times will focus on food and nutrition for your feline family. It's been a hot topic ever since the recalls began back in 2007. While many companies have been forced to improve their products, some have not answered the need to do so. Thus, recalls are still an important issue we need to continue monitoring. Check the recall lists to see if the food you buy is affected. Your pets' lives definiteley depend on keeping up to date on this crucial aspect of their daily care. 1. Study Debunks Dire Warnings About Popular Pet Food Dr. Karen Becker, Feb. 27, 2022
Here's a headline from PetfoodIndustry.com, a journal written for the ultraprocessed pet food industry:
"No confirmed human disease from raw pet food worldwide"
"The scientists' findings cast doubt on a basic tenant [sic] of raw pet food use, that raw pet foods should be kept away from people's food spaces and utensils."
According to Dr. Karen Becker, "At long last, an actual scientific study has been published on the often-rumored 'dangers' of raw pet food. The study, titled 'Low Number of Owner-Reported Suspected Transmission of Foodborne Pathogens From Raw Meat-Based Diets Fed to Dogs and/or Cats,' was written by independent researchers and published this past October in the journal, Frontiers in Veterinary Science."

How Proper Nutrition Can Help Prevent Urinary Tract Disease"When you take a look at modern cat food, it is often dry kibbles that are high in carbohydrates, low to moderate in protein, and void of any moisture, the exact opposite of cats’ natural diets. Not only do these foods fail to add any hydration to your pets’ bodies, but they require water from the body to process. This causes many housecats to live for years in a chronically dehydrated state."Read more:

A very interesting article, but I suggest you do your own research on this topic as certain comments are not necessarily true or as drastic as they say. For example, they claim that raw feeding is risky and difficult. However, I know of many cats that are fed a raw meat diet (including some of my own kitties) and overall, they are healthier than cats that eat only commercial foods. Plus, they often benefit by living longer lives.
The fear of bacteria is not to be ignored, but common sense, cleanliness and proper food handling are important and not difficult to implement. Feeding raw requires balanced nutrition by learning how to provide the right ingredients if you do it yourself, but there is good information online on how to do this. If you prefer not to do this kind of food preparation, there are companies that sell raw products you can serve already prepared. (See link above for CatCentric.)
