Hello Firstname

Wednesday 22 October
Next Wednesday we have the annual Keith Hewitt Lecture. This year we have Fiona & Barry Senior FRPS(es) with their talk called An Evening With Two Fellows. This will be a print talk showing a range of all types of work in both monochrome and colour - this will include subjects as varied as landscape, still life, infra red, architecture, wildlife and portraits.

Print Competition - Round 1
Last Wednesday we had Round 1 of the 2014/15 Print Competition, which was judged by David Gibbins ARPS CPAGB AFIAP from Nottingham. I think it's fair to say that we treated to a lesson in judging as David managed to say something helpful about each and every print and did so in an entertaining way. Something To Do With Your Old Printer Cartridges
I'm indebted to Sue O'Connell for sending the following:
Could I mention a useful destination for empty ink jet cartridges? Cartridges 4 Charity have a recycling service which is easy to use and serves a good cause. Just fill an envelope with cartridges and attach a freepost label downloadable from their website www.cartridges4charity.co.uk. This may be of special interest to Epson users as they accept those Epson cartridges which no-one else seems to want!

Competitions to Enter
Modern Life in an Old City

As a member city of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) Bath has been invited - and encouraged - to take part in a North West Europe-wide photographic competition,‘Modern Life in an Old City’. The competition organisers are particularly keen to involve young photographers. Entry is open to all except professional photographers.

All entrants need to register and upload images on the competition website; full details of terms and conditions can also be found on this website. The competition closing date is 8th November 2014: at that point each organising city will be sent their city’s entries for local judging, with a first prize of €350. The winning images from all participating cities will then be judged by an international OWHC jury and the overall winner will receive prize money of €700.

Items For Sale
Items will remain in this section for one month from the date of insertion or until notification of sale, whichever is the sooner.
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Sue O'Connell wants to blow her trumpet, so here goes:
The good news (apart from surviving the early onset of winter in a Mongolian yurt, that is) is that I have just had my BPE3* confirmed. Also have the following to report: FIAP Silver in the Finland Circuit, UPI ribbon in El Argentino and HC in Bon Voyage.

If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
