IMPORTANT NOTICE: ROAD CLOSURE RICHARD ROAD
A “sink hole” has appeared in the culvert between Cecil Street and up the hill towards Carols at 37 Richard Road. Council attended the site this morning and have closed the road between these points. They have left a safe walking track for pedestrians only.
It is possible that with further rain the hole will spread further and the road will collapse which is a danger to any vehicular traffic. The large drain under the road has totally collapsed and will need to be replaced. As this is a big job, the closure will be for some time.
Please use Cecil Street and Thompson Street to access Harold Avenue. Any vehicles that come from Carols along Richard to the closure point will have to be prepared to reverse as there is little turning space along this section.
