Hebrews 10:11-12 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST (5)

When God finished creating the world, we're told that He rested on the seventh day. This certainly doesn't imply that God is continually resting and no longer active in our lives. Rather, it simply means that God finished His work of creation. It was perfect and complete and nothing more needed to be done.

These verses from Hebrews give us a similar picture about Christ's work of redemption. As Jesus said on the cross, "It is finished." There's nothing more that needs to be done. Salvation has been secured. Christ's atonement is perfect and complete.

But just as God did not quit working after creation, so Christ does not quit helping you after "He sat down at the right hand of God." This phrase assures us that Christ is now in a position of authority to help in times of need. He is our perfect Intercessor precisely because He is our perfect Substitute and Sacrifice.

So, when you have times of doubt; when you question God's plan in your life; when you struggle in the futility of your sin, and basically whenever you have any problem, you can find help in Christ. Just as He is your complete and perfect Savior, so also is He your complete and perfect Mediator and Friend.
