Inverse Cinematics Don't give up PULVER (2008)

So this is the last part of this epic broken beat track that had to be cut down for the mix to fit on to CD. The inverse cinematics make great music whether it be hiphop, house, broken beat or nu jazz they are definitely worth checking out.

Karizma The damn thing R2 (2007)

Again like the Mary Mary I heard this one late afternoon at coop in London, dancers went into a frenzy as the breakbeat kept on chopping and chopping away. Raw !

4Hero Look inside Raw Canvas (2007)

This track often comes top of the pack in my sets. I couldn't stop playing it last year, it fits in so well each time. Dego and Marc Mac really have a unique way of expressing positive feelings in their songs. This one is all about the strings, the rhythm and the vocals, totally uplifting.

Cro Magnon Black Mahogani Jazzy Sport (2008)

These guys are amazing musicians I'd so much love to see them play live. This one is a cover of the now classic Moodyman track Black Mahogany

Kerri Chandler The Promise NRK (2007)

Kerri Chandler has always made consistently high quality house music. This is one of the lesser known tracks he's made but I really like the vibe and I have never seen any floor not dance to it. 

33 1/3 Queen  Searching NU GROOVE (1990)

Made by those who were also known as the basement boys at one of the most exciting times for dance music on the shortlived yet fantastic New Yorkan label, Nu Groove, this record can really kickstart a night with it's twisted synth sounds. It's one of the tougher tracks of the label and can really mark a change of atmosphere giving the night a darker and more twisted vibe.

Cameo Money (Reese Hardcore instr.) REPRISE (1992)

From one old school classic to another, this is a definite rave tune. Some of the mona crowd have that warehouse background, back in the days when house and techno were one, so there always comes a point when we play for them.

Kenny Dope Jam the mace DOPEWAX (1997)

The sheer obviousness of this track is it's strength. People freak out when they hear the voice of the girl from technotronic rapping away. I really enjoy throwing a few totally obvious tracks in during a night, the crowd love it.

KC Flight Let's get jazzy (blaze rmx) TMT (1987)

Now this is old, over 20 years, but it sounds totally fresh. Really different from what you usually expect from blaze, and a massive bumping tune for the mona crowd.

Hashim Al Naafiysh Cutting Records (1983)

The only track never to have been played at mona, but I couldn't resist fitting this bboy electro classic in going right back to my bodypopping days, tacchini tracksuit bottoms, head bags, farah pants and nike windbreakers.

Deetron Let's get over it ft Justin Chapman Music Man (2008)

Back into newer stuff with Deetron. This producer really knows how to move from House to Techno with soul and this track is perfect for crossing those genres, like mona does so well.

DOP I'm just a man Eklo (2008)

I had forgotten I had this track until Milo came down to Mona (in the pic opposite). He played the track and got the best reaction out of it. Things like that happen often and it's great to hear other djs play and to get influenced by them.

Don Williams Orderly Chaos ARTLESS (2006)

Again a track that crosses over from House into Techno and back again. An instant classic with the Mona crowd, sounds like some classic deep techno moody track from Detroit but actually comes from Germany where most of the best electronic music comes from today.

Brothers' vibe Like it used to B MIXX (2006)

Pure class. This has all the ingredients of a classic house track, bassline, keys, piano and rhythm section, the title sums it all up.

Persia Inch by inch (edit) GENERIC ISLAND (1979)

Mona has a strong disco influence and the crowd knows their classics. This is an edit of the Persia track on a french label, the original version sounding much more orchestrated. Girls love it!

Punkin' Machine I need you tonight (edit) H Track (1981)

A slightly kitsch sounding song, again an edited version, that brings everyone together on the floor. Disco usually gets played towards the end of the night, which is such an important part of the whole party. It's always good to send people home (or elsewhere) with a smile on their faces.

Nightlife Unlimited Peaches and prunes (ron hardy edit) Automan (1996)

This groove is infectious, the way it loops perfectly. Edits have become very useful for djs to play disco and funk tracks in 4 to the floor house and techno sets. This is more and more widespread today and has introduced far greater diversity in many a djs repertoire.

Lovebirds Love on my hands (love on dub mix) Winding road (2008)

There's something in this track that reminds me of Dtrain. This guy really knows how to make well produced house music with influences taken from 80s synth electro funk. Look out for him in the future ! 

Hardrive Deep inside (dub) Strictly rhythm (1994)

This track always gets played towards the end, sometimes even when the lights come on. People know it off by heart even from when it was being hammered in clubs back in the day. The dub version though is by far my preference as people instantly recognise the track without hearing any of its more obvious ingredients first. Clap your hands !
