"When people believe -- when a community believes -- that they have a story worth telling, then they are empowered. They're sharing and taking risks. They're being bold. They're really living."

Invest in A Story Worth Telling
We invite you to watch this stunning new video about who we are and what we do. After you've seen it, please consider making a tax-deductible end-of-year donation to Portland Story Theater. Your generous contributions will make it possible for us to keep bringing you the kind of real, true stories that break down barriers and transform our community narrative, one teller at a time.

If you've been to a show lately, you know that ticket sales have been good. But that covers only a portion of our expenses. We need your help to sustain our story theater programming as we move into the future. Your charitable donations will make that possible, in part, by helping us to:

Offer more workshop scholarships. These days there are a lot of unemployed and under-employed people who would love to participate in an Art of Personal Narrative workshop. We offer scholarships whenever we can and we'd like to do more. With your help, we could.

Tour the Shackleton show around the Pacific Northwest. We want to give more people a chance to see and experience our work. We're already talking with the folks in Astoria and in Hood River. Imagine... Seattle, Vancouver, B.C. We want to make it a reality and we can with your help!

Buy a new computer system. For the past two years we've been using a system built from spare parts by our friend, Charlie. Oh we love him but it was never meant to be a permanent solution. With your help, we could have a more robust system that could support the work we want to do with video, graphics, and all sorts of other cool stuff.

From very humble beginnings in 2004, Portland Story Theater has been driven by the belief that everyone has a story to tell and that storytelling connects us with each otherPortland Story Theater Founders, Lawrence Howard & Lynne Duddy and the world. Portland Story Theater has been bringing true stories to an ever-growing audience. Some of you are new friends and some of you have been with us from the very beginning.

Thank you, one and all.

We've been very fortunate. In spite of these challenging economic times, we're growing and expanding. Beginning with only three workshops in 2009, we now offer 10 workshops and Urban Tellers shows a year.

We've been lucky to work under the guidance of Strategist, George Thorn, through a generous grant from the RACC Cultural Leadership program, and have developed a plan to serve our artistic vision as we move forward.

This past year has marked some tremendous milestones for Portland Story Theater: we won our first grant, expanded our board, hired a part-time Executive Director, and took our Shackleton show to NYC.

Invest in your community. Support the work of Portland Story Theater.2013 promises to bring some very exciting opportunities. With your love and support, we can keep bringing you real, true stories, told face to face, eye to eye, and heart to heart.

May the narrative be with you
