John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."

WE LOVE TO FOLLOW OUR SHEPHERD

This is another of the blessings we enjoy as sheep of the Good Shepherd. We are privileged to follow Him. It is something we are glad to do because we recognize that He is the one who take cares of us. He does everything for us. His love for us soared to its greatest heights when He laid down His life to atone for our sin.

There's a story of a man in Australia who was arrested and charged with stealing a lamb. When accused of the crime he stated emphatically: "No, I'm the true owner this sheep! I've been searching for it for days!" The case went to court and the judge found himself in a quandary, not knowing how to decide the matter. Finally he hit on an idea. He ordered the lamb brought into the courtroom. Then he asked the plaintiff to step outside and call for the animal to come. When he did this the lamb made no response except to raise its head and look frightened. Then the judge told the defendant to go outside and do the same. No sooner did he call the lamb than it bounded right out the door. It was obvious to all who was the true master of that little lamb!

So it is with all sheep of the Good Shepherd. We are blessed by the Spirit with a yearning to walk in the paths of our Shepherd. We love to follow Him (and only Him, no one else!) because He is our Savior who graciously furnishes all our needs of body and soul. At the beginning of each day we pray:

Savior, I long to walk Closer with Thee;
Led by Thy guiding hand Ever to be
Constantly near Thy side, Quickened and purified,
Living for Him who died freely for me.

Assist my soul, too apt to stray
A stricter watch to keep;
And should I e'er forget Thy way,
Restore Thy wandering sheep.
