HAPPY YEAR OF THE TIGER 2022

Although orders are mailed from Norwich, in the UK – MrBead is based in Hong Kong, so continues the Chinese customs. Lunar New Year is the largest Chinese holiday.

The new Year of the Tiger starts 1th Feb 2022. A strong turbulent year of opportunity & growth. Tiger Years are fortunate, so after lockdown, now is the time to strike out with bold new ideas. However, keep everything in balance, and use Chinese astrology like a weather forecast to plan ahead. Each animal in the Chinese zodiac is divided into elements with slightly different characteristics – this Yang Year is a Black Water Tiger.

Predictions For This Year of The Tiger
The last Water Tiger Year was 1962, so expect similar. 2022 will be a dramatic year of optimism, excess and change. The element implies ‘running water’, which is quick and powerful. Connected to emotions and wealth, bringing abundance, prosperity, floods and political extremes.

Grab opportunity, be bold, creative, and start something different. However, work hard and selflessly, stay calm and positive for the energy to change you for the better. This year’s tiger will be sympathetic – but it’s difficult to get off when riding the big cat, so don’t get carried away.

Ingenious technology, like pharmaceutical breakthroughs will arrive. New business or investment will prosper, but be careful as recklessness can be troublesome and expenses will soar. The tiger is a loving animal who looks after offspring, so a good year for romance and starting a family.

If You Are a Tiger
Tigers are the King of Beasts, a symbol of strength and boldness – being fearless, adventurous, competitive, confident and creative. They’re also sensitive with a magnetic charming personality and a keen sense of justice – but can be unpredictable, stubborn, irritable, and overindulgent.

2022 will be a good year for romance or a new job, with lots of travel and much achievable. Everything will positively expand, with money flowing in, but be careful with investments and deals. Trivial things could be important, exercise in fresh air more, and wear red for luck.

Best partners are an ox, snake, goat or pig – least harmonious with horse, snake, goat or monkey. Best jobs: advertising, travel, artist, medical research, actor, pilot, musician or comedian.

GARNET BEADS FOR JANUARY

Garnet beads are one of the few semi-precious stones getting cheaper – so add some to your ‘jewellery-making stash’ for 2022!

What Is Garnet?
Garnet is January’s birthstone, a name given to over ten gemstones with similar structure. Although usually red, there’s shades of green, pale to bright yellow and fiery orange. The word “Garnet” derives from the Latin “granum” meaning “grain”. Describing the typically rounded shape of the gemstone and also reminds of pomegranate seeds.

Benefits
Garnet makes good jewellery because it’s very hard, and resistant to wear. Garnet is said to symbolize happiness as well as deep and enduring love and friendship. Garnet has been found in jewellery from ancient Greece, Rome, and dating back to 3100 BC in Egypt.

Oriental warriors made garnet bullets because they believed these would inflict more harm. Others thought garnet brightened the night because of its high refraction of light – explained Noah’s garnet lantern to steer his Ark. Travellers’ wore garnets to protect against evil, poison and wounds. It was also believed to help depression and prevent nightmares. Red garnet in particular is said to break a fever, stop bleeding and to reduce inflammation.

Modern Garnet
Today, garnet is prized for its beauty rather than its magical powers. People like its naturalness, its brilliance, and colour of a sun-drenched Indian summer. Deep green garnets are the rarest and therefore expensive. Emerald green and colourless garnet is next rarest, followed by pure red.

TOURMALINE FOR LOVE & FRIENDSHIP

Tourmaline beads are extremely popular right now. Available in many colours, although pink is the most common. It is said to be the gemstone of love and friendship.

It’s name originates from ‘tura mali’: meaning like ‘stone with mixed colours’. Usually found in granite mined in Brazil or Africa. Tourmaline is believed to combine creativity and discipline, and is a natural source of negative ions and far infrared rays. Far infrared therapy is common to heal in Japan.

It is also thought to improve circulation, good for digestion, relieve stress, increase mental alertness and strengthen the immune system. As well as creating peace and communication between the conscious and unconscious minds. Tourmaline, along with opal, is the gemstone for October.
