Zen at Work holds Free HSC Stress Busting Workshops to help students cope with exams

Zen at Work managing director Anne Palmer is holding two free HSC Stress Busting Workshops for high school students before their exams next week.

Exam time is particularly stressful for students and their families. The one-hour workshop will show students how to calm down and will help them to combat negative stress by using effective 30-second stress buster techniques.

“After years of study and work, it is tragic when stress cripples a student’s performance in an exam,” Ms Palmer said.

“Stress ultimately starts in the mind, but it affects your body and breath as well. If you've crammed as much as you can in your head, the workshops will help you learn how to relax, and make sure it all comes back to you when you need it.

“These free workshops will help you to learn quick but effective techniques that you can do at your desk, before you go to sleep to help you relax, and even in the car on the way to the exam hall.

You can use your body and your breath to manage mental stress. The exercises use mind, body and breath routines developed in the East thousands of years ago, but which are as effective and relevant to today's stress.”

Ms Palmer said with the increasing pressures of study and ultimately work, it is now more important than ever to ensure that young people learn how to build stress relief into their studying and work environment.

The free HSC Stress Busting Workshops will be held on Friday, 14 October at Avalon Recreation Centre, Old Barrenjoey Road, Avalon from 10am to 11am; and The International College of Tourism and Hotel Management in Manly, 151 Darley Road, Manly from 1pm to 2pm.
