Dear ,

Thanks very much for contacting your elected officials concerning the threat of nuclear weapons and for logging your contacts on our PSR/Sacramento "1,000 Call Campaign" database. We haven't yet come close to our goal of making 1,000 calls, but we already have some good news to report. With the passage of AJR 30 and AJR 33 on August 28, 2018, California became the first state in the Union to declare that it is the will of the State Legislature that Congress should revoke the authority of the President of the United States to order a first strike nuclear attack (AJR 30), and furthermore (AJR 33), that the United States should support the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons that was adopted by a vote of 122-1 in the UN General Assembly on July 7 of last year.

September 26 (this coming Wednesday) has been designated by the United Nations as "International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons." You should take pride in already having done more than most people to work toward the total elimination of nuclear weapons. If you're able to make and log in additional contacts with your elected officials this week, though, and to encourage family members, friends, and colleagues to do the same, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm attached a flyer that you can use if you like to help publicize the 1,000 Call Campaign.

If you're on our regular PSR/Sacramento email list, you'll be receiving another message concerning our PSR/Sacramento annual dinner on Saturday, November 10, at which Dr. Tilman Ruff, co-founder of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), will be the keynote speaker.  As you probably know, ICAN was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for the key role that it played in getting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons passed in the UN General Assembly last year. If you're not on our regular PSR/Sacramento email list but would like be added to it, let me know in a reply to this email. You can get more information about the annual dinner, including how to make reservations, on the Upcoming Events page of the PSR/Sacramento website.

Thanks again for your activism in working toward the abolition of nuclear weapons. If you'll be in the Sacramento area on the evening of Saturday, November 10, I hope to see you at our PSR/Sacramento annual dinner.

In Peace,
