Truly, I live in dark times!
The innocent word is suspect.
An unwrinkled forehead
suggests insensitivity.
He who laughs
simply has not heard
the terrible news.

What times are these when
a conversation about trees
is almost a crime
because it includes
so much silence
about so many outrages!

-Bertolt Brecht

RANGER REPORT - October 2008

The Mighty Manatees ended the summer of '08 by performing before 4000 people as a dazzling fireworks display rained down over the stage! The Jeff Daniel's Jeep-a-thon (or "Jeepstock" as we call it) in Harleysvile, PA, was the biggest one yet. The weather was perfect. Optimum playing conditions. This was our 4th year.

Long-time Manatees friend, Dori Greger, recently returned from Mexico where she went swimming with some real live manatees. To see a picture of this-click here: http://losmanatees.com/media/manatee.jpg

Even though it wasn't in the news very much, the United Nations International Peace Day was celebrated recently and long-time Manatees friend Keith Macpherson wrote a song for the occasion. To see and hear him sing it, click here:http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quJeigr54Vc

The Mighty Manatees tour bus has been booked! On Saturday, November 15 we will be taking it on the road to New York City. We are playing the famous Bitter End, 147 Bleeker St., Greenwich Village, NYC. Leave the driving to us! No parking problems. No traffic hassles. We leave Valley Forge at 3:00pm. Showtime is 10:30. Plenty of time before the concert for shopping, sight-seeing, and dinner. There are only 40 tickets available. $40 each. They can be purchased at any Mighty Manatees show. www.bitterend.com

This month sees The Mighty Manatees return to Scoogies in Flourtown, PA, (Thurs. Oct. 9, 6-10pm) for our last outdoor show of the year. This will be the first time we've played outside at www.scoogies.com

On Friday, October 10, The Mighty Manatees debut at a new club called John Henry's in Ardmore, PA. Showtime is 9:30pm. No web-site yet.

This year the annual Mighty Manatees Masquerade will be held on Halloween night (Fri.,Oct. 31) at Sette Luna in Easton, PA www.setteluna.com & Sat., Nov. 1, at Mezzaluna in Allentown, PA www.mezzalunabarandgrill.com

Special thanks to Dancing Tommy for the calendars and the help at the zoo.

And on a final note, we all send condolences to long-time Manatees friend Uncle Frank who recently lost his brother to lymphatic cancer. Our thoughts are with you.

Peace,
Ranger Will
