Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

THE PREPARATION OF THE KING OF PEACE

You remember how Solomon prayed for wisdom and understanding to be able to rule over God's people. God gave him more wisdom than any other human being. At first he used that wisdom well in ruling God's people, but then he became full of himself and forgot he was called to serve God and God's people.

Jesus was given everything He needs to rule as the perfect King. He was endowed with "the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might."

Jesus received an unlimited measure of the Spirit of Wisdom and understanding of everything. Jesus always had the perfect response and action for every situation. Whether He was being questioned by the ignorant; challenged by the doubting or attacked by His enemies, he handled every situation perfectly. He also has the power and might to carry out His plans and purposes, even in the face of opposition.

Most importantly He was endowed with the "Fear of the Lord." Unlike Solomon, He always held the Father in highest reverence and He remembered that He was here to serve His heavenly Father and carry out His will. Jesus still reigns from His throne in heaven in perfect harmony with the Father's will.

The peace that we have under the rule of the Messiah is the peace that comes from having the perfect King -- Jesus. He knows how to rule us in love. He knows how best to deal with each of us.

Jesus knows how to care for us in every need. He truly knows and understands our needs. He understands our weaknesses and our struggles because He lived our life as a true human being. He knows our temptations because He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin (Hebrew 4:15). Because He remained without sin He also knows how to remove our sins from us forever. He did this by nailing them to the cross and burying them in the grave forever.

In this life we only see part of the picture, even in things that pertain to our own lives, but Jesus always sees the whole picture. We think we know what is good for us, but He truly knows what is best. He knows when we need discipline and when we need gentle nurturing and encouragement.

What peace we have in being able to entrust our lives into the care of our King of Peace and to live under Him in His kingdom-rule forever.
