Turbocharged Neoclassicism at RIBA
'The Three Classicists' Ben Pentreath, George Saumarez Smith and Francis Terry have been having a good month of it, what with their well received exhibition at the RIBA and a sold-out lecture chaired by RIBAJ editor Hugh Pearman.
But they had one more trick up their well-tailored sleeves: rolling those sleeves up and making a giant collaborative wall drawing over the course of just one day.
Ben Moore of the ArtBelow initiative filmed the entire day, then cut it all into one five-minute superfast movie.
Poster Boy is an anonymous New York City based street artist whose only utensil is a razor. He is known for satiric collage-like works created by cutting out sections of the self-adhesive advertisement posters in the platforms of New York City subway stations, and pastinghem back in different positions. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Poster Boy has been called the "Matisse of subway-ad mash-ups," "a kind of anti-consumerist Zorro with a razor blade," and "an anti-consumerist guerilla artist." Culture reporter Ben Walters has said of his work "Poster Boy's work straddles two boisterous artistic subcultures: street art and culture jamming."Poster Boy has said of his technique "No matter what I do to the piece, as long as I did something to those advertisements and that saturation, it's political. It's anti-media, anti-established art world." Check out the short clip

jotta presents an afternoon symposium that examines and tests collaborative practice within a contemporary art context.
jotta invites a selection of artists and curators to discuss how collaboration affects the role of both the artist and curator. An exploration of how collaboration impacts the process of art making, as well as the way in which, through collaboration, curatorial practice is challenged.
Sourcing practitioners from jottaContemporary’s previous exhibition programme, we aim to promote dialogue between artists and curators whom jotta have collaborated with, to investigate how jotta explores the role of this mode of practice, and it's integral place in professional artistic practice.
jotta.com is an online space built specifically to facilitate collaboration in art and design, including networking tools, artist support, access to opportunities and features to enable online based project work. Through our design and curatorial teams, jotta collaborates with artists and designers across the jotta community on self-funded and commissioned events, exhibitions and projects.
