ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION - Go green with The Mighty Manatees at The Rising Sun in Telford, PA, on Thursday, March 17. Embrace your inner Irish-ness. This will be an acoustic show with Randy Wagner on bass and musical guests. We will be performing "The Unicorn" and "The Irish Washerwoman".
Also appearing: The 8-Girl Fitzpatrick Irish Dancers performing during band breaks.
Showtime is 9 - 12:30.
SINGIN' FOR THE CHOIR AT PETE'S BARN! - Fiona, my 11-year old daughter, has been singing in a Bel Canto Choir for several years. This June they are going on a short European tour. In order to help raise money for their trip, we are playing a benefit concert at the legendary Pete's Barn just outside of Norristown, PA. This show is being called "Singin' For The Choir" and will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 2ND. The band for this date will feature a rare 2-keyboard line-up with K-Jo & Tim "Super" Hooper, plus Randy Wagner on bass, Jozo on guitar, Jim Hines on drums, and myself, as well as many musical guests. This is a "beef and beer" event. Tickets are limited and available from the band at any of our shows. Showtime is 6 to 10 PM (but we may play a wee bit longer...) MANATEES FUN FACT - Did you know that Fiona and her Bel Canto Choir will performing with The Allentown Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Tuesday, April 12? It's true!
IN PASSING - We were saddened to learn of the death of former Mighty Manatees guitarist Eric Allal. He played and recorded with us for several years including road trips to the Jersey shore, bus trips to NYC, plane trips to Key West and that infamous New Hope, outdoor, mule-drawn barge cruise concert. And who can forget that benefit concert for the homeless we did when Eric played with us on the roof of the concession stand of a drive-in movie theater? The next Ranger Report will feature a video tribute to Eric. He will be missed.
