Mark 1:24 "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!"

THE TESTIMONY OF A DEMON?

Truly, only the Spirit of God could reveal such things to us in such a simple way. First, it's plain that this demon was a personal being and that he wasn't the only one. He wasn't just speaking for himself but on behalf of others. Second, it's plain that this demon considered Jesus superior to him and having the power to destroy him. Finally, this demon knew that Jesus was the Holy One of God.

This type of outburst happened on other occasions during Jesus' earthly ministry too (cf. Matthew 8:24, Mark 5:7). Now let's think about this for a minute ...

Isn't it something that the Devil and his evil cohorts knew who Jesus was, but His own disciples were slow in picking up on it? When it comes to the supernatural, we human beings can be dumb as stones. It's necessary that God intervene and grant faith to believe.

Isn't it something that this demon thought Jesus had come to destroy him and his kind, yet so few human beings understand why Jesus was born, lived, died, and rose again? This despite the fact that the Bible states it plainly (1 John 3:18): "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."

The demon was right. Jesus is the Holy One. Yet many human beings today don't think that they need a Holy One because they imagine that they are good enough to stand before God on their own merits!

Praise God that His Spirit in His Word reveals that Jesus is the Holy One -- and that only those who are united to Him by faith are Saints, Holy Ones, in God's sight!

God help us to pass on this Good News to others today!
