Surrey Scoutabout is back, after only two years because Covid upset the schedule. Most people receiving this will know, but just in case........ Surrey Scoutabout involves a few thousand Scouts and Guides holding a weekend camp at Ardingly Showground, with a huge amount of bases, on and off-site, from archery to wellie throwing. Since SSWAC was formed we have run a base off-site at Weirwood Reservoir near East Grinstead, offering kayaking, and more recently, open canoeing.

 

In 2022 SSWAC combined with Godalming District Scout Canoe Club and Paxmead Guide Centre. Paxmead cannot join us this time, but SSWAC & GDSCC will join again for this 2024.

 

Stand up paddle boards (SUPs) have become popular, so the club has purchased some, and are offering them this time, alonh with those from GDSCC. We would welcome any others that can be offered, as in 2022 the SUPs were clearly very popular.

 

As in 2022, we will be operating at Ardingly Reservoir. The launch area will also be the same as in 2022. More details on that later.

 

Can I please ask people to contact me if you can help, either as a Permit holder, a competent paddler, or for land-based bank support.

Can people also contact me if you can offer kayaks, open canoes, or SUPs, along with the kit, to add to what we already have.

Lastly, the club has a trailer in Horley, loaded with seven open canoes and kit. Is anyone happy to tow this to Ardingley reservoir for us?
