Help The Native Plant Conservation Campaign Fight For Plants and Science in 2018!

Dear Native Plant Conservaton Supporter:

Help the Native Plant Conservation Campaign fight for the species that most overlook - PLANTS.

As you know, 2017 has been a frightening year for science and conservation. Federal science budgets have been slashed and scientists have been fired or reassigned; use of standard scientific terms like climate change has been censored; federal lands are at historic risk from oil, gas, and other resource extraction, and industry representatives now hold key positions in agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior.

Please Donate to the Native Plant Conservation Campaign –  Support The National Fight for Plant Conservation and Put Science Back in Charge

All of this has made traditional science based advocacy - the foundation of NPCC’s work – much more difficult – and even more crucial. Further, the legal system we rely on to protect the environment is under attack:

In 2018 we must fight back to Save Plants, this Planet and Ourselves. But with normal advocacy methods inoperable, at least temporarily, we are turning to democracy and majority rule to put science back in charge.

Consider:
Therefore we need to get out the vote to put the law and science back in charge and restore majority rule in the U.S. We are working with partners in Get Out the Vote groups and scientific and environmental organizations to distribute Get Out The Vote for Plants and Science Websites and Materials to make it easier for grassroots advocates to register voters and Get Out The Vote in 2018.
In 2017, the Native Plant Conservation Campaign significantly expanded. We now have 51 affiliate groups nationwide, including botanic gardens and native plant societies, representing over 250,000 individual members in almost every state. The NPCC network is uniquely positioned to reach the public, including in places less likely to be exposed to pro-science and conservation messages.

We are seeking tax deductible contributions from leading plant science and conservation groups to support this work
Your organization’s donation will help Get Out The Vote and also support ongoing NPCC projects, including:
Native Plant Conservation Campaign website, brochures, NPCC News and Action Alerts all inform the public about scientific, political and environmental realities, including attacks on science and conservation.
Fight Plant Blindness!
The Native Plant Conservation Campaign needs your help as we fight “Plant Blindness” and conserve the native plants that we rely upon to support and secure our lives, jobs and societies.

Important Plant Areas
We are working with local Affiliates to identify botanically significant areas in each region of the U.S. The IPA Showcase will help guide agencies, land trusts and other land managers in conserving our flora. It will celebrate the vital work of plant groups in recognizing and protecting these beautiful places.

As loss of natural areas and climate change accelerate, landscaping and gardening with locally adapted natives is becoming ever more important in helping to provide habitat, corridors and refugia, for native plants and wildlife. We are working with national and regional groups to provide information on what species to plant and where to find them.
