Summer fashion is always an explosion of colour, and 2021 is no exception. The trend to spend more time outdoors will continue, even after lockdown (if that ever happens). Prompting jewellery to match, like floral garden hues.
Colours for 2021 featured by Pantone are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow, along with blue and burnt orange. Hello believes Triumphant Turquoise will make a summer return.
The fashion catwalks this year are obsessed with all things pearls. Chanel, Simone Rocha and Emilia Wickstead, love them. So do singers Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, who are often photographed with strings of pearls around their necks. Therefore, it’s time to get in on the trend yourself – whether it’s real or fake pearl beads.
Anklets remain popular with celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley posting them on social media. Boho Jewellery feature chunky chains and designs with beach vibes – and Power Rooms say vintage mood-lifting jewellery is popular.
With less need to Zoom post-lockdown, longer necklaces are back. Especially effortless and cool layered necklaces – with delicate chains and thin, elegant, oversized medallions.
Etsy says padlock jewellery and fidget rings are popular, and multiple finder rings in too. Who What Wear says malachite beaded jewellery is popular. Whatever trends dominate, it pays to make sure your designs have lots of appealing summery colours.

The word Ruby comes from the Latin “ruber,” meaning red. It comes in hues from an orangey red to a purplish red, but the best are a true red – and is called a sapphire in any colour other than red.
Rubies were thought to represent heat and power. Ancient tribes used the gem as bullets for blowguns, and it was said that a ruby would boil water instantly. It has been said that the ruby’s red glow comes from an eternal flame, making a gift of this stone symbolic of everlasting love. Powdered ruby was used as a cure for indigestion, and if worn on the left hand, ancient lore has it that the ruby will bring good fortune.

Onyx used in architecture isn’t a form of quartz at all, but a type of limestone marble. Onyx is very similar to agate. With straight bands of brown, white or black, where agate has curved bands of many colours.
Although regarded as protective, onyx has a reputation as a stone of discord. Onyx was worn to cool the ardors of love, probably because it helps to balance the mind and emotions. Not only avoided by lovers, but also at night, as it provoked nightmares. However, it does improve concentration and devotion, hence many onyx rosaries.
Onyx is a strength-giving stone, aiding confidence and useful for athletes or people under stress. Its energy is a mental tonic and can help you cope with fears and worries, making you feel in harmony with your surroundings.
