Feline Quote for July-

And HERE are the fabulous entries for this month...
(just click each picture to see a larger view)

What about this fabulous Trifecta which was submitted by Linda Ross of Lake St. Louis, MO. Linda says that she saw this pattern featured on the cover of Nancy's Notions and knew it would be perfect for embellishing. She hand-painted both side with liquidtex paint. The front of course features a gorgeous dragonfly, and if you click here, you can see the back, which Linda enhanced with a floral design. The result is quite incredible, isn't it?

Lisa Templeton of Mount Vernon, WA created this wonderful, summery Carolina CarryAll. It looks yummy!

This Harmony Handbag makes me smile. The Creator, Christi Todd Of Henderson, AR chose a lovely palette to show off the best assets of he bag, didn't she? (Christi said she was a bit intimidated by the many pieces and the lengthy instructions at first, but that she just took it one step at a time and she had zero problems.)

Adelaide Lane of Onancock, Va intends to enter this wonderful Trifecta in the Hoffman Challenge. I must admit that I am tickled to death because this is the first time that one of my patterns has been used in the Hoffman Challenge. Just look how beautiful the interior looks! The judging will be in Houston at the Fall Quilt Market and I hope this beautiful bag is displayed there!

Sue Hobart of NY had this fabric in her stash for 'ages', and when she bought this Trifecta pattern, she knew that she FINALLY had the perfect muse for it! The embroidered leaf that Sue added to the front phone pocket picks up the gold thread that runs thru the fabric. She did a marvelous job!

Wouldn't this
Boho Baguette and PortaPockets Insert be a fun duo to carry?  Donna Petruso of Monroe, MI says that everyone wants to steal it from her and I can see why! Believe it or not, the is Donna's first attempt at making a handbag... I can't wait tosee what she makes NEXT!

Video of the Month- The Babysitter Dog
I've had this little video for quite some time now, so you may have seen it elsewhere, but it's defintely good enough to merit another viewing! Enjoy!

Website Spotlite- Paul's Metal Petals
Dress up your quilting station with this beautiful Sara ConeFlower! Any quilter who likes to save time and money using cones of thread knows how important it is to have a stable holder. They're fabulous! Paul also fashions these whimsical flowers into paper towel holders and stand-alone room decorations called 'pipe dreams'. !

A Cool Place to Shop- A1 Glass Hummingbird Feeders

I love hummingbirds and I bet I've tried at LEAST 5 different styles of hummingbird feeders only to be frustrated by ants, bees and squirrels. But finally I've stumbled across a Hummingbird feeder that works perfectly! Hung from a standard shepherd's hook, this effective yet inexpensive feeder is the answer to my dilemma. I haven't seen any ants on it, only an occasional wasp or bee, and best of all, I'm enjoying my hummers almost all day long.
Also available on this site is some fascinating articles about hummingbird migration and nest-building, along with a cool video!

Cat Video of the Month- The Laziest Cat in the World
Everytime I look at this great video (which was sent to me last month by NUMEROUS people) it cracks me up. The thing that's the most fascinating, is that this placid lazy cat is a tuxedo cat! He must be a freak of nature or something. Anyway, click here to view!

Blog of the Month- CraftyNest
If you're into crafty home decorating or gift-giving, then you will enjoy looking over Crafty Nest. With almost an entry per day, it's a very active blog, and almost every entry is a tutorial for you to try, many of which do not require sewing skills. It's really quite amazing. Some of my personal favorites are the spa slippers (made from old flip flops & a bath towel), an ingenious way to carve jack-o-lanterns with an electric drill, and an inexpensive way to cover and reclaim old dining room chairs (I've done this, and it works great!).

Quote of the Month-
"A budget tells us what we can't afford, but it doesn't keep us from buying it."  William Feather

Look What I Found OnLine- Rock Solid Arcade
Looking for a quick, fun diversion from work, or something to do on a rainy day, then Rock Solid Arcade is the place for you to go. You can test your skills as a fighter pilot, eliminate hostile forces in a mining facility, or align the planets in a virtual cosmos.

New Word of the Month- Malbingophobia

(môl-bĭng'gō'fō'bē-ə)- (n.) The fear among some bingo players that they have incorrectly marked a square, and calling "bingo" could cause them not victory, but public humiliation.

Cats in the News- 'Catio Anyone?'
According to this NY Times article from June 16, 2010, a 'Catio' is an enclosed outdoor area created especially for house cats so that they can enjoy being outdoors, and yet be protected from danger. ClickHERE for an informative and amazing slide show featuring various 'catios' that have been constructed in the NY area.

Sewing Tips-
How annoying is it when you just need that one button, and you search your sewing supply and can't find it. Or you need a particular needle, and it's not in the sewing supply. Keeping a check on your sewing supplies can save you a lot of time and frustration.

A Cool Internet Activity- Easy Home Design
Redecorating just got easier with the powerful (and free) home design application from Autodesk Homestyler.  Quickly lay out room, size floor plans, and add details like doors, windows and furnishings with this simple interface. You can design from scratch, or use existing gallery designs for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, bbedrooms, and even landscapes. Try experimenting with different colors, designs, and products and you can save your designs to show friends, vendors and contractors. (I wish I had this when i was working on my studio layout!)

Long before Jack Johnson hit it big, I was a big supporter of him and his music. If you've never listened to Jack, check out this link. But here's the deal, and this is really unbelievable in the materialistic society we live in... Johnson is donating 100 percent of his 2010 “To The Sea” tour profits to over 150 chosen community groups. This isn’t a donation of a percentage of proceeds from the sale of a tour t-shirt, nor is it a donation of a percentage of ticket sales from a particular show, this is a donation of 100 percent of all profits from the tour. Just take a moment and think about what good could be done in this world if more entertainers and atheletes had this same attitude. So...if you'll be attending one of Jack's concerts this summer, you can feel good knowing that you are also helping your community by doing so.

Monthly Trivia-
Today is Tuesday, July 6th, the 187th day of 2010. You may already know that there are 178 days remaining in this year, but I bet you didn't know that it was on this day in 1964 that The Beatles premiered "A Hard Days Night" at the London Pavilion at Picadilly Circus. Many folks credit this film as the precursor to modern day music videos. Click here to see for yourself. (It'll be fun for some and nostalgic for others.)
And speaking of fun, I'm sure there'll be a little partying in Crawford, Texas today (the home of former president George W Bush), and no... it won't be because he doesn't have to deal with the Gulf Oil Spill, it's because today is the 64th birthday of our 43rd president. He could always invite Nancy Reagan to the party. The old gal would probably enjoy the day out since it's her birthday as well (her 89th). They share their special day with Sylvester Stallone, best known for his successful Rocky and Rambo films.
And if today is also YOUR birthday, here's a great big 'Happy Birthday to YOU' from StudioKat Designs, and if today is not your birthday, you can celebrate anyway by watching any or ALL of the Rocky or Rambo movies, or you could just start your neighbor's day off right by leaning your head out of the window and screaming, "Yo, Adrienne!". Yeah, they'll think you're weird, but the chuckle will do 'em good!

Well, that's it for now, so until next month, remember!
Sewing Forever, Housework Whenever!
