Autumn Bead Fairs

Since we’ve been in the UK this autumn, we’ve been to four fairs with four to go.

Gem 'n' Bead Fair at Newark
At Newark, Sat & Sun 21st-22nd September. Starting with a two-hour drive taking four in the Friday evening jam - maybe next year I’ll get up very early Saturday!

However, despite working on my own, the fair was excellent with above-average takings for a two-day show. Nice carpeted hall at Newark showground, inside an airfield just out of town.

Autumn Bead Fair, Leeds
Sunday 28th Sept at the Holiday Inn, Garforth. Although 160-miles, it was quick up the M1 from Luton Saturday afternoon, but slow getting to Norwich on the A17 Sunday evening.

Again, this was nice venue with many visitors and we done well.

Luton MrBead Bead Show
Saturday 4th October at the Stockwood Hotel, Luton. Very convenient for us as we stay at my mother’s in the town, but hard work lugging the beads up steps to the venue. Also a rush setting up as the hall is needed for the hotel’s breakfast until 9.30am.

However, as usual at our own fairs, the limited attendance is made up by much-higher than average individual spending. Good to see a few local beaders, although most visitors travelled from affair, notably London and Aylesbury. Nice bright venue with very little lighting needed and only five-minutes from the M1 J10. 25th Annual Beadwork and Bead Fair

Bead Society Fair, Uxbridge 2014
On Sunday 5th Oct, organized by the Bead Society of Great Britain – the ‘original’ and oldest European bead fair moved from Harrow to it’s 5th year in Uxbridge Collage.

We did very well, better than past years, with many sellers from all over the UK and lots of visitors. This time exhibitors were in a new hall as well as the usual gallery – all airy and spacious and incredibly well-lit. Very close to the M25 and Underground Station for the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. Fantastic home made food!
