Award Update, February 2015
Registration is Closed
The annual registration period is now closed. Thank you for joining one of the most prestigious international awards for independent books. During March, we will send a detailed award announcement schedule. As in previous years, the various prize distinctions will be presented in the spring, and details will be published in the US Review of Books. During the second half of April, the winners and finalists for the First Horizon, da Vinci Eye, and Montaigne Medal will be announced in that order and in successive weeks. During the second half of May, the Eric Hoffer grand prize short list will appear, followed by the category distinctions, press awards, and the grand prizewinner.

Judging Has Begun
The judging process begins with the categories, where your books are evaluated for category prizes and perhaps nominated for further consideration. (You may be asked to send a second copy of your book at that time.) All registrants are automatically considered for the First Horizon Award, da Vinci Eye, and Montaigne Medal. These are separate distinctions and do not influence the category or grand prize judging. If your book does not gain one of these distinctions or is not named in the grand prize short list, it is still being considered for a press and/or category award or perhaps a distinction as a category finalist.

We will use this forum to keep you informed. If you unsubscribe, you will not be notified about the award results. You may follow the unfolding details of the award via Facebook and Twitter. Furthermore, I’d be happy to answer your questions, although our website is very helpful. Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Dawn Shows,
