Thro' the Lens |

Last Wednesday saw the long awaited battle of the sexes (in these "woke" times, am I allowed to say that?), when Society stalwart, John Chamberlin, took his life in his hands to pass judgement on two sets of images by the Ladies and Gents of the Society in an attempt to find out who were going to be the side who would come out victorious after this blood bath!
The Gents' images were first up, and it looked like they might do pretty well, amassing a total score of 151, which equated to just over 7 points per image. However, hopes began to come unravelled with the very first Ladies' image, by Anita Fullerton, which scored an amazing 10, followed quickly by a 9 from Ann Mead. However, male spirits perked up by image No 12, when scores were even at 87 apiece - there was still hope! But this was short lived, because up pops an image by Rachel Domleo which scored another perfect 10 (her second of the evening), after which the Gents never caught up, with the final nail in the coffin being really pushed home with a score of 10 for an image by Pam Sherren. At the finishing line, the Gents lost by a full 10 points with the Ladies scoring an impressive total of 161 points.
Well done to all who put forward images for this "battle", the two teams being captained by Carole Brown and Barry Mead. This event used to be an annual fixture before we moved to Unit13, and hopefully will now again become a regular date in the BPS calendar - and who knows, we chaps might even get our revenge!!!

Bristol PS has enjoyed success in this national competition over the last three years. Five members have entered a total of 20 images – these were safely delivered at the PAGB Inter Club battle in Blackburn last month.
BUT, we can do better...........
There is still time to enter – on-line copies have to be entered by 24 November, and prints received by 1 December. Given Christmas postal volumes it would be prudent to get entries in sooner.
So if you fancy having a go, there will be a box at the front to receive any additional entries handed in on Mondays or Wednesdays up to 19 November [by special arrangement, late entries can be handed to Mike at Unit 13 on Friday 21 November at 10am].
If you have new work, and have not yet entered – please support Bristol PS.

Well done to all. If you had acceptances but aren't listed here, it will be because you didn't reply to my email sent to all members on Tuesday.
|
Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include them in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
|
IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes |
Please don't forget that if you change your
address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions,
it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know
so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that
you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk.
The distinctions we have on record are those
shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell
us we can't possibly know!
DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER. |
