MANATEES DYING IN RECORD NUMBERS - A deadly algae bloom known as Red Tide has been killing manatees off the southwest Florida coast. Right now at least ten manatees a day are dying from Red Tide which releases large amounts of toxins in the water and is lethal even to humans. There is work going on right now to try and construct an early warning system that will help prepare for Red Tide in the future. MIGHTY MANATEES HEADLINE SELLERSVILLE THEATER FOR CD RELEASE PARTY -
On Sunday, May 5 (Cinco De Mayo) Los Manatees will perform an evening of original acoustic and electric music to showcase the release of their new untitled studio album. Many special guest stars are expected. Free copies of the CD will be given away at the show. There are only 40 of the cabaret seats available and half of them have already been sold. THE CAVANAUGH PHENOMENON! - And speaking of birthdays...On Good Friday, March 29, Jim "Grampa" Cavanaugh will be celebrating his 50th birthday by playing the drums with The Mighty Manatees at the Rising Sun in Telford, PA. Jim has been in many bands including Wanderlust, The Franny Beecher Band, and The Ribhouse Band to name but a few, and many of his band-mates have been invited. It promises to be an evening filled with many musicians and all-star jams. Showtime is 9:00PM
RANGER WILL SOLO SHOW - For the first time in my life I will be performing a solo show! All by myself I will be appearing at Chaplin's in Spring City, PA on Saturday, March 30. Also on the bill are Ted The Fiddler, Mark Schultz and the Wayne Rangers. I go on at 9:30PM. Also attending: Eleanor, my 82 year old mother.
