I
had to chance to meet up with Franco "Dok"
Harris again in the Hill District as he visited residents
and watched the Steelers game at the Northside Elks with members
from the community. It feels like he is a family member because
he is just so cool and chilled out and this young man is EVERYWHERE.
Also,
let's not forget that I already knew his dad the legendary Franco
Harris of the Pittsburgh Steelers Hame of Fame.
Franco
"Dok" Harris is running for Mayor of Pittsburgh November
3, 2009 and his vision is simply: My family is
part of our shared history. My father taught me that success requires
working together - as a team. Not as Democrats or Republicans
but as Pittsburghers. Only by putting party politics aside and
working together can we say YES. Yes to fixing
streets. YES to keeping areas around our schools
safe. YES to making Pittsburgh a green energy
center. YES to ending the culture of gun crime
and gangs. Our mayor says we have an inferiority complex. I say
he's wrong. He says we can't; I say we can. I say YES
to making this city even greater. The City of Champions should
no longer just refer to the grass and the ice - but to our schools,
our innovation and our children. We've always been as tough as
steel. But know the truth - we're smart as well. We've polished
our city and we're proud. But we're not done. We're just beginning.
Let's say YES to forging ahead!
