Authors
Connecting is a program designed to emphasize the importance of literacy and
how culture can influence education, as well as one’s world view. in 2012 Tropicalfete
established a cultural reading program , in partnership with Barnes and Noble Park Slope branch to celebrate Caribbean heritage month in June.
This year’s
event is about the steel pan instrument. Tropicalfete will
preview a children's book “The Birth of the Steel Pan.” It will feature the
history of the Steel Pan instruments and performances. As part of the event we always hightlight the work of a prominent person of Caribbean Heritage and this year we will be looking at the work of Alexander Hamilton, the founder of the US financial system (St. Kitts
& Nevis born). The event is to be hosted by Colette Nicole Stapleton. Readings and Performances will start at 12noon.
Come and join us on June 4, 2016 (Saturday) at 9 AM in EDT
(readings starts at 12NN) at Barnes & Noble Park Slope, 267 7th Avenue,
Brooklyn, NY, 11215.
