Marriage Equality Update and Fundraising Events!

Together we are making huge strides towards marriage equality. But we still need your help and are excited to present two major fundraising events in Sydney on September 23rd.

Thanks to your support in recent months:
- MPs have received over 150,000 emails calling for marriage equality, including tens of thousands through the Mums4Equality and Christians4Equality webforms
- over 56,000 people signed a Get Up! petition endorsed by AME
- many same-sex partners and their family members have visited their local MP

Last week saw the dramatic effect this has had:
- for the first time marriage equality advocates including representatives of AME met with the Prime Minister
- over thirty MPs sought meetings with AME representatives to discuss the issue
- more MPs than ever before voiced their support for marriage equality during a report-back on the issue to parliament

Some commentators have underrated these developments. But our lobbyists, like veteran gay rights  advocate, Rodney Croome, are optimistic about the future of equality.

MPs are also acknowledging the huge changes resulting from effective advocacy. Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, has told the ABC, "I am on the public recorded of supporting the current definition of marriage but I have to say that view has been fundamentally challenged by the representations of same-sex couples".

We want to make it us fun as possible for you to contribute to the campaign. With the help of a variety of community leaders, community organisations, DJs and entertainers, Sydney will be hosting the biggest ever Buck$ and Hen$ night. These fundraising events will on the 23rd of September with 100% of funds raised going to the fight for equality.

Below is the poster for both events and tickets can be purchased here. If you are unable to attend the events but would still like to contribute to the campaign donations can be made here
