Dear Client,
STREAMLINE ( instruction) FOR LEAN TIMES
With costs constrained by lean times, and the season upon us, streamline your training program, and enhance your lesson product. For those who are open to change, our system of instruction may be perfect for your ski and snowboard schools.
RIDE THE SNOW IN HARMONY ® and WHAT ANIMAL ARE YOU? ® brand instruction maintain lesson quality while you reduce budget and streamline training. With a method based upon timeless principles, you can enrich a traditionally small program, or trim a large one to it's essence.
Though the classes are separate because the client expects them to be, the training is unified and tends to be participatory.
A student taught to ski or snowboard with our simple approach, often progresses fast and has a sence of value associated with accomplishment, whether it is because they rode and skied the steeps, or joined the family for lunch on the hill.
If your ski school or sno pro director is wondering how to train everyone on a clipped and diminished budget, RIDE THE SNOW IN HARMONY ® 's streamlined approach delivers, with lessons, logo's, and signage.
Introduce Ride The Snow In Harmony ® this season, and profit from the experience.

Cary,
The one drawback of your teaching methodology – for you – is
that it’s so elegantly simple that once a skier gets it, he or she
can easily teach it to others,

CLASSICAL ORIGINES OF RIDE IN HARMONY TM
The zen reduction of the pole swing, or pointing, as RIDE IN HARMONY TM utilizes it, has similarities to the Michaelangelo figure of god on the Sistene chapel. It's “contropposto”.
That means from or against the post, or foot. Looking at the body as a system, A movement of the hand forward creates a twist from the opposite foot. It was obvious (eventually) what Michaelangelo and others of the Renaissance had discovered or rediscovered. The Renaissance was the “New Birth” of Greek art and statuary, And who the Greek artists were observing, were Athletes of the first Olympics.
Athletes such as Discophoros, the discus thrower or carrier, And so on, though every sport, as the body moves in the same way to generate speed and power, "contrapposto" was the model because it was the best description of how the body moved. "Counter poise", or counter is a cousin of the word, and sometimes a definition.
RIDE IN HARMONY TM 's Fundamental movement of athletics sm, is an upward and forward motion of the turnside sm hand, to initiate a twist from the opposite foot. And to borrow the concept of “extensions” from Andrea Lawrence, and her chapter on winning two Gold Medals in the Olympics at age nineteen, the twist extends, in the univeral principle of the concave and convex, until the ski hits the snow.

ACL Awareness
The first event in a common scenario that leads to an ACL rupture, is that the turnside SM hand drops back and in, in a chain of events that sends a shock wave from the tail of the ski through the Anterior Cruciate Ligament. A second factor, but for another time, is the vertical alignment of the athlete.
The
first three lessons of a Ride The Snow In
Harmony
® playbook,
teach the student to move the crucial hand and arm uphill and forward
inside the arc of the turn. These are two.
The first
example above is from "Pole Tilting", and the
second from "Pointing".
The second picture shows a skier entering the bottom
third of the turn, beginning a pole swing to unwind and begin a new turn,
but the leading relationship of the turnside
sm hand is clear.
Though ACL
injuries are caused by multiple factors, the simplest answers are usually
the best, and garner the greatist benefit.
Play it safe. Build the foundation of your instruction upon the Fundamental Movement of Athletics sm, from RIDE IN HARMONY TM. Book a clinic for your ski and snowboard school. Liscenses may be available. Availability is limited.

"WHEN CHEESE MATTERS"....
... Is the tag
line of the Cheese Shop in
Aspen, Colorado. In a two page article for the Four Seasons Magazine, the
in-house magazine of the luxury hotel chain.Christina Oxenberg of royal
European lineage, and part time Aspenite, talked about her life and
favorites here. As you might have guessed, The Cheese Shop is a favorite
restauant for speciality foods. Mine too.
Fashion maven Christina Oxenberg and friend.
" Weightless warmth like sunlight and love."
But she was kind enough to recognize the Ride In Harmony TM method, and yours truly, for excellence in ski instruction. "I think the best ski instructor in Aspen is Cary Thompson, and his personal method of instruction is Ride In Harmony," says Christina. In a magazine," that takes a truly international view of the trends and insiders' views from around the globe," (the publishers note), we are eternally grateful.
Thank
you,
