Hello, Firstname

Christmas Greetings

This is the last edition of the newsletter until the New Year (yes, even over worked newsletter editors have time off for Christmas).
May I take this oportunity to wish all BPS members a very Happy Christmas and a great New Year. Let's all hope that 2021 is a damn sight better than 2020 was and that we can get back to normal as soon as possible.
The next edition will probably be on 2 January, in the meantime you can be preparing your images for Projected Image Competition Round 3. Advanced Prescribed Category: Games - The closing date is 6 January.

Wednesday 16 December
Tomorrow, 16 December, would normally have been the Christmas Social, however Covid has forced us into having a virtual social. it has therefore been decided (with the blessing of the programme secretary) that we should have a joint meeting on Wednesday with the DI Group, whose meeting on Monday 14 December has been re-scheduled. Ashwin has invited Andrew Whettam to present his talk for the evening. Many of the members who attend DI meetings will remember Andrew's wonderful landscape images and also the Lightroom and Photoshop tutorial sessions he presented in the clubroom not so long ago. A brief introduction to Andrew is shown below.
As Andrew's presentation will take the whole evening Ashwin is not requesting images for presentation this month although if you already have them ready please do send them for presentation at the January DI meeting. Ashwin looks forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
Andrew Whettam LRPS
Andrew is a landscape photographer based in the North West of England, within easy reach of several world-famous national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Within the broader genre of landscape photography, he enjoys a wide range of styles and subject matter, though it was his love of mountains and wilderness which attracted him to photography in the first place. He often edits his photographs so as to bring out emotion and feeling, to communicate something that is on his heart, to create a connection between the viewer and the image. Andrew’s images have been shortlisted in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year and World Landscape Photographer competitions. Publications include Landscape Photography Magazine and the homepage banner image for the Royal Photographic Society.

Masters of Print
Last year the club won the Hahnemuhle Gold Club award for the Club with the highest number of acceptances from members including several awards.  We have set a standard that other clubs will try to beat so it is time to raise the standard.

We will, again, organise a club entry, so it is time to dust off the printers we had nearly forgotten about, make sure the heads are clean and feed in our best paper to take our superb images.
We had a great entry last year, but we can do better.  It does not matter if you are a "salonist", we have some fantastic photographers in the club and we want your images, club, intermediate or advanced.

We will manage the entry on your behalf, all we need are  a max of 5 prints per person, any size paper up to A3, Colour ,Mono, and nature.  You can mix your entry between the 3 classes.

Initially, please email Steve Field at progsec@bristolphoto.org.uk letting him know that you would like to take part, Steve will coordinate our entry as last year.

Full details here  http://www.thepagb.org.uk/competitions/pagb-masters-of-print/, note the limits on age of the image.

Fill Steve's email with requests to enter - please!

Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
Now we're all in lockdown again, the thought of on-line Christmas shopping must be looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!
