It is time to record a new album! All I can tell you is that it will be a continuation of the journey begun with "Origins". It is inspired by 18 months of intense touring around the globe with the band; the USA, France, Ireland, England, Nigeria, and South Korea...the places, the people, all the intense human experiences we have been fortunate to live this year will be included in this new project.
We've recently begun rehearsing the new material and have 9 songs down, which is really exciting. The plan is to be in the studio in January with a hopeful release sometime in May or June. Rest assured, we'll keep everyone informed of the release date as we get closer.
Meanwhile, we also have some other exciting little projects that will be coming to fruition soon including work on a film score and preparing an interpretation of a Bach piece for a new recording by the Red Hot Organization (www.redhot.org
), all proceeds of which will go to support the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS. I'm also trying to finish my new method book (the book was done a while ago, I just don't have time to edit it!).
Which leads me to more BIG NEWS....The band is not going to tour until we release the new CD. It's too important for us to focus on the next step, and we just don't want to be distracted and side tracked by the exhaustion of the road. That doesn't mean we won't be playing our regular shows around NYC, though, so if you're in the area, make sure to check us out. You'll probably get to be one of the first to hear some of the new material! Here is more info on our weekly NYC gigs. Always make sure to call the venue beforehand as the schedule may change.
- Every Sunday, 9pm, at Barbes: Barbes has been our musical laboratory for the past ten years, it is always a different experience, always new, always deep. (www.barbesbrooklyn.com
- Every Saturday, 8pm, Bistro Fada: We play here as a full band, it is slightly more casual than Barbes, but we go full blast regardless! I named the theme I composed for 'Midnight in Paris' after Bistro Fada. These are good friends, and it is always good times! (www.fadany.com
- Every Thursday, 7pm, Bar Tabac: A classic, bar-like atmosphere, and we love it. Super casual...we play here as a trio...2 guitars and bass. (www.bartabacny.com
- Every Monday, 6:30pm, The Empire Rooftop : This is an interesting venue, very big with a full view of Manhattan from the 12th floor. We are a bit like a NYC soundtrack... casual, relaxed, more atmosphere than concert. The Empire Rooftop doesn't have a website, but they are located at the corner of 63rd and Broadway, at the top of the Empire Hotel (but they are not part of it).
And last but not least, I am available again for serious teaching! If you're looking to improve your guitar skills or have decided to start your musical journey, contact me! Teaching is a passion, please do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
