Important, Second Notice Attempt

Hello,

You are receiving this message because you purchased a Carlson RT4 Tablet from iGage.

If you purchased an RT4 Tablet after Thursday 22 October 2020 the updated display driver has already been installed on your tablet. You do not need to be concerned about this driver issue (However we still recommend carrying an external mouse and keyboard.)

There is a known issue with an automatic Windows 10 update replacing the display driver with an updated (however not latest) driver that inverts the screen while keeping the touchscreen un-inverted.

If you get an automatic Windows Update that triggers the inverted screen, you will need a USB wired external mouse to apply the update. We now recommend carrying an external mouse and keyboard with the RT4 (in your vehicle, not the field.)

A description of the fix can be found on this Juniper Systems webpage:
https://www.junipersys.com/support/article/14710

Alternatively just go directly to this Intel website:
>>> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/96552/ <<<
then click on the 'Get Started' button. It will automatically determine the correct display driver to install on your RT4.

Because it is kind of a pain to do this if the screen is inverted, it will save you energy to just update preemptively. It will take about 5-minutes.

>>> Hint: during the update process look for the installer window underneath the web browser so that you can click the next button. <<<

You can check the currently installed display driver by click-and-hold on the Windows Start button, then select 'Device Manager', then expand 'Display adapters', then double-click on 'Intel(R) HD Graphics 505', then select the 'Driver' tab. The current 'new' driver is 27.20.100.8853. The errant drivers are in the build range [8141 and 8783]. Evidently this has been an issue since the end of September, however the first instance affecting our customers that I know of was 21 Oct 2020.

Give us a call if you have any questions, suggestions or additional information.

Thank you,

Mark Silver
