November Memory Verse
Psalm 119:160,
"Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever
.”

- A Good Man -
(Psalm 112:5-8)

What does it mean to be a good man? No doubt, everyone has their own definition of what a good man is like. God gives us His description of what a good man is like and how he behaves.
  1. A Good Man Is Kind: (Psalm 112:5a)
    - "...shewth favour..." To be kind is to be Christ-like. Christians are to be kind (Ephesians 4:32). Kindness is become a rare trait in our society. The foremost characteristic of love ("charity") is kindness (1 Corinthians 13:4). A good man is a kind man.
  2. A Good Man Is Careful: (Psalm 112:5b)
"...he will guide his affairs with discretion..." To act with discretion is to act with cautious, careful, and wise judgment. He understands that his actions have consequences, not just upon himself, but upon many others. A good man is a careful man.
  3. A Good Man Is Committed: (Psalm 112:6a)
"...he shall not be moved for ever..." A good man will not quit. He can be counted upon to do what he has committed himself to do. In his place, doing his responsibility. Committment is sorely needed in the Gospel ministry and in Christianity in general. A good man is a committed man.
  4. A Good Man Is Courageous: (Psalm 112:7)
"He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord..." - Fear can cause a man to do terrible things, to act in unkind ways. Courage overcomes fear, does what is right, and trusts in God. A good man is a courageous man.
  5. A Good Man Is Confident: (Psalm 112:8)
"His heart is established..." Courage and confidence go hand-in-hand. When I know I am IN God's will, DOING God's will, there is great confidence. We must never confuse confidence with arrogance. A good man is a confident man.
It is my prayer that God will help me and do what He needs to do to mold me to be a good man.

This Sunday is a very special Sunday here at MLIBC - Our 23rd annual Fall Revival begins Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. with Dr. Don C. Williams preaching. The meetings continue Sunday evening through Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. each night. Dr. Williams will be preaching God's Word and doing a chalk drawing each evening. On Friday, he will give away his drawings to those who bring the most visitors throughout the week. You do not want to miss this great meeting. Please make every attempt to attend each service and please pray earnestly for revival.

Also on Sunday, we are recognizing all our veterans. We thank God for these men and women who have served our country. A small gift as a token of our appreciation and respect will be presented to each veteran in attandance.

Follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with what is happening around here and, please check out our website at www.mlibc.org.

Bring your Bible and a friend and I'll be looking for you Sunday!
