Bristol Salon - BPS Results
Last weekend saw three days of intensive judging when getting on for 7000 images and prints from 54 different countries were judged for acceptance in this year's Bristol Salon of Photography. It is pretty difficult to get images accepted in a salon, with some 75% of submitted images being rejected (FIAP stipulate a 25% acceptance rate), so the following BPS members did particularly well, gaining over 100 acceptances between them, which included 14 awards. Special mention should go to 3 members, John Chamberlin, Sue O'Connell and Derwood Pamphilon who all reached double figures for their acceptances.

Name *Accepted Awards
Mike Bews 2 1
Peter Brisley 3 1
Carole Brown 1 1

John Chamberlin 13 3
Margaret Chambers 4
Ashwin Chauhan 2

Topaz Software
I am indebted to BPS member Mick Jupp for the following:

Topaz Labs Software.

An announcement has been made that Topaz Photo AI, Topaz Video AI and Gigapixel are all focusing on AI technology from this year.

Sharpen AI and DeNoise AI - currently part of the main four programmes Topaz actively advertise will not. Their technology is already part of those programmes.

Much of their other software is upgrade free once bought, but for the most part are incorporated into Photo and Video AI programmes.

Upgrades cost around $99. Frequently they offer upgrading all software you own for $99 as against an individual programme. This may change with the new format being developed.

Of note they have asked for user requests and comments and one comment being voiced by nearly all respondents is that any AI development must be to enhance images and not replace them, as this is not allowed in competitions.
Requests are being made that any AI replacement is clearly identified as that - a replacement not an enhancement /edit.

Well done to Lance Allen who has just become a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society and can now proudly display LRPS after his name.

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
