Dear Art Friends,
This is the time of year where I get the old woodburner on and settle down in the warmth to watch films. So far I've recently caught "Toy Story 2" and a great, entertaining film on Netflix about an art forger. Fascinating stuff but deeply damaging for Art History. This guy managed to create a new painting in the style of one of my favourite artists, Max Ernst, completely fooling the art world and quickly making millions in the process. In fact, the act of forgery is in itself (in my opinion) a sort of work of art. But let's not praise him too much! If you haven't seen this then check out The Art of Forgery.

Out with the Old - In with the New |
STUDIO TIDY
I’ve found older pieces hiding in my plan chest. I LOVE these pieces, but they need
to go to make room for new paintings in 2016.
|
FURTHER AFIELD
I now have representation further afield in Derbyshire, the New Forest and Crieff in Scotland.
Some of you early collectors may notice prices have risen in the past couple of
years. This is simply due to demand, higher framing costs and the highest quality pigments.

DRIVING AND MUSIC
Last week was full
of driving time to Leeds, Holmfirth, Thirsk and Manchester
delivering new paintings
to galleries. The artist’s life does indeed involve a
lot of driving - BUT I consider it good thinking time and of course,
listening to inspiring music - in this case Jackson Browne - well, I love a good
old bit of country music. And driving past Almscliffe Crag and through
Pool in beautiful Wharfedale gives me loads of inspiration for more paintings too.

WORKSHOP
We had a great “Inspired” workshop in York in November with very
enthusiastic participants creating special, individual work. I
was really happy with the atmosphere and ideas. What a great weekend.

LAST MONTH
November's exhibition "Sand and Water" was a huge success thanks to Penny Phillips, sculptor and the gallery staff at Blossom Street. Thank you
to all who bought paintings – I said goodbye to some favourites, but it's such a privilege to know that these works hang on your walls.

So I'm now going to spend a quiet Christmas time with family and
friends - I wish all of you a special, enjoyable festive season. We
shall be seeing in the New Year with our usual Scottish party time in
York. I just LOVE a good party!
Yours aye, Lesley
