Dear Friends and Comrades,

ISRAELI STUDENT: "REAL WINNER IN ISRAELI ELECTIONS IS BDS"
Avinoam Baral, a pro-Israeli student lobbyist has written a rare article in Israel's mainstream Haaretz Newspaper explaining how the right-wing victory of Benjamin Netanyahu in the recent Israeli elections will increase Israel's isolation and boost support for the international non-violent Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel movement. Click here to read the article.

ISRAELI JOURNALIST: ONLY CONSOLATION IS THE WORLD WILL NOW ACT
The Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, has written that the only consolation with Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing re-election   is that another Netanyahu term in will hopefully prompt the world to act. In Levy's words: "That possibility is our only refuge." Click here to read Gideon Levy's full article.

JEWISH BOARD OF DEPUTIES FALSLEY ACCUSES ANC OF USING RACIST ISRAELI-STYLE ELECTIONEERING AND FEAR MONGERING
Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu on the eve of Israel's recent elections appealed to Jewish Israelis to vote using fear-mongering against Israel's Palestinian Arab minority saying: "[Our] right-wing Israeli Government is in danger...[Palestinian] Arab voters are coming out in droves to the polls...get out to vote, bring your friends and family, vote Likud in order to close the gap...". Imagine any President warning the majority population to vote in fear that the minority population are heading out to the voting polls?

The SA Zionist Federation (the political wing of the SA Jewish Board of Deputies), instead of calling out this discrimination, shamefully suggested that this sort of fear-mongering against minorities is "standard practice". Avrom Krengel, the head of the SA Zionist Federation, went further bizarrely and falsely claiming that this discriminatory practice is used by South Africa's ruling party, the ANC. Krengel said: "The entire ANC strategy in the Western Cape is to try and convince Black people to keep the Whites and Coloureds out." CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO OF AVROM KRENGEL FROM SAZF ON ANN7 TV NEWS..

Israel's elections were marked with racism and fear-mongering against Palestinians. According to the Washington Post, former Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Liberman, during his electioneering, claimed that "disloyal" Palestinian Arabs should have their heads chopped off.

NEW YORK TIMES OPED: "NETANYAHU'S WIN IS GOOD FOR  PALESTINE" [GOOD READ]

Palestinian writer and activist, Yousef Munayyer, wrote in the New York Times this week, that Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing victory is actually the best plausible outcome for those seeking to end Israel’s occupation. Another term with Netanyahu at the helm, Munayyer argues, could actually hasten the end of Israel’s apartheid policies.

The biggest losers in this Israeli election, Munayyer claims , were those who thought that change could come from within Israel. According to Munayyer: "It can’t and it won’t. Israelis have grown comfortable with the status quo...there won’t be real change on the ground or at the polls without further pressure on Israel. And now, that pressure will increase. For this, we have Mr. Netanyahu to thank." CLICK HERE FOR YOUSEF MUNAYYER'S NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE.
