Pumpkins are becoming an increasingly popular canvas for artistic expression, and the fascinating creations you can see at The Farm Market Under the Dome Decorating Contest are truly a sight to see! From whimsical to artistic, painted faces and intricate carvings, both grown-ups and kids compete for cash prizes, and you are the judge. Vote for your favorite, with First ($25), Second ($20) and Third ($15) Cash Prizes for the ones receiving the most votes.

This month we also welcome the return of Tennessee Valley Strummers from Waynesboro, Tennessee.
The Strummers are a group of dulcimer players who perform throughout our region, including a monthly performance at the Visitor Center in Florence, Alabama. The dulcimer is a musical instrument from Appalachia, which rests on the player’s lap, with 3-4 strings that are used to create traditional folk melodies as well as familiar standards. The Tennessee Valley Strummers and their music provide the perfect melodic background to the day.

The Market is in the center of The Farm Community, world renowned as an Eco-village and an example of sustainable living. Summertown sits at the junction of Maury, Lawrence, and Lewis Counties, about 30 miles south of Columbia, 15 miles northwest of Lawrenceburg, and 15 miles east from Hohenwald. Those driving in from north, south and east will take HWY 43 to Summertown, turning west on to HWY 20 (watch for the Shell Station and Sonic Drive-In). The Farm is located about 5 miles down HWY 20. Look for The Farm sign on the corner, a right turn on to Drakes Lane, and then watch for another sign where you turn right on to Walker Road. Drive a quarter mile to The Farm entrance and Welcome Center, then 2 miles down Farm Road to the Market under the dome.

The Farm Market is directly adjacent to The Farm Store. Stop in for lunch. Browse the array of gift items, including The Farm’s world renowned colorful tie dye t-shirts.

The Farm Market Day is held the third Saturday of the month April through October from 9 AM to 2 PM.
