Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

YOU ARE ON A JOURNEY BY FAITH

We see countless examples throughout the Bible of Christians gone before us who journeyed by faith. Abraham is a prime example of one who picked up and started out on the journey of a lifetime simply waiting on the Lord and holding fast to his promise. How is your journey going? Can you look at your own life and say that you have always acted out of faith, that you have lived according to God's words and promises? Sadly, no one can say that. Not even exemplary Christians like David, Elijah, or even Abraham can make that claim.

There are times when we hesitate to hold to God's promises, when we doubt that he will follow through on his promises. Why is that? Is it because God's Word is so unclear and mysterious that we have a hard time really clinging to it and following God out of faith? Certainly not. Does God speak louder to some than others? No. It's only that we as miserable sinners tend to fill up our lives with so many other things, we are tuned into so many other noisy distractions that the still, small voice of God's Word gets drowned out at times.

But when you are in the word, you see God speaking to you and strengthening your faith. When God leads you somewhere you see that he "will never leave you nor forsake you," and that he "has plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." When faced with an impossible situation you look to God's Word and he says that "all things are possible with God," that his "ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts higher than our thoughts," and that "he works all things together for good to those who love him, to those he has called."

You are on a journey by faith, but that faith is not a blind leap or a fading hope. It is a rock-solid, immovable trust based solely on God's Word. It is the Spirit worked conviction which leads us to journey where God leads with confidence!
